House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

Room Service by Checkered Moon Opens!

Sharon Crow's mother used to supply Sharon and her sisters with shoeboxes and fabric so that they could "design" miniature houses and condos!
Talk about foretelling the future!  A few years later and Sharon is still designing and creating new looks in her own backyard!
(Remember "Over the Moon for Checkered Moon"?)

Here is how it went down:

"Set your calendar for Saturday, September 10th as Checkered Moon will be opening their sister store ... Room Service by Checkered Moon.  Sharon Crow opened her doors ten years ago on Neil Street and then relocated to the Old Farm Shops.  The idea behind Room Service was to open a home store that would help their customers find their own style.  The shop will feature quality pieces along with great design ideas and help you to put the fun back in your home.  The preparations have begun for their latest grand opening ... Room Service will be conveniently located a few doors down from Checkered Moon, next door to Chico's.  They will be specializing in home furnishings and will offer interior design consulting as well as feature the latest in wallpapers, fabrics, rugs, lighting, etc.  Room Service will be carrying lines from Jonathan Adler and John Derian to fabulous eco-friendly furniture from Cisco Brothers.  In addition, Checkered Moon will be expanding their childrens department to include furniture and accessories for your little ones room!   You can shop both stores Monday thru Saturday 10 to 5:30."

Here are some shots of the opening weekend.

Check this out- SLIPCOVERED shades!!! Genius.

"Only I can be me."

Did someone say "Jonathon Adler"??

Indeed!

The opening felt like a big ole Girls Night Out party!
Thank you so much to Sharon for being the hostess with the mostest!

  2. Loved the turqouise chandelier, the slipcovered lamps and the PILLOWS! And I want that turqouise couch. Why doesn't my house look like this?

  3. OOH! Color may make you happy, but it also makes you hungry! Those colorful glass globe pendants are delicious. I'll take a dozen of the ceramic animal heads and some of those giraffe pillows. Wish I were there!

  6. Susan- that is the perfect description! We can find a Target, HomeGoods, and TJMAXX in Anytown USA,(not there's anything wrong with that!) but Checkered Moon is a unique showroom, run by an awesomely talented staff! It puts us on the map!
    Thanks for your comment!

  7. Sharon,
Love the new store and really enjoyed your web page. Now I know where to buy my Christmas presents for those that have been nice. Not the naughty ones. Love your Big Brother (Frank)
