House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

'Tis (Officially) The Season!

I have not written one stinkin' single holiday post because I am a rule follower. Yes, yes I am.
There is not to be one ornament, wreath, mistletoe or light hung until one day after Thanksgiving.
NOW, the gates have opened, the game is on, the whistle has blown, and I am off and running! (Trying to slip in some sports phrases to entice my Mister!)
Here is a lookiloo at the Pinterest images that have inspired me!

I have my game face on!

Do you put up all of your decorations in one shot or in stages?

Back in the day it was one shot, now stages. I love your blog, very real, very funny!

  2. There is a "decorating marathon" going on here at my house. I decorate TOTALLY! It is like moving. I replace almost every plant, jar, basket, accessory etc. with CHRISTMAS! There are at least a hundred trips up and down the steps to and from the basement. I started Fri. night and have ALOT done. I also decorate other peoples homes! Can't wait to see what you do!!! 3. In stages. No time to put them up all at once!

  4. Definitely in stages. Hubs has to help with the tree and outdoor decor.

  7. I decorate in one fell swoop and then tweak as the days go by and as I bring more kitsch into the house! I love the feather tree pic with the vintage ornaments. Now that's talkin' to me.

  10. Such beautiful inspiration! I like to get all of my decorating done asap and then enjoy it through the season. Then by News Years day it is all down and put away :)

Fun stopping by to visit with you!

  11. I too have the Tradition of waiting until the day after Thanksgiving before I take our Autumn Decor down and start putting up Christmas. I almost caved this year with the temptation to do it earlier because I knew I'd have a hectic Seasonal Work Schedule, but the Family insisted we stick with Tradition and I'm glad we did. I always put everything up in stages... savoring the moments and not rushing anything in the putting up or the taking down processes. I'm too spontaneous to plan out everything in a single day of Styling anyway... the whole thing just tends to evolve over time as if it has a mind of it's own. Loving your Inspiration Images.

  13. These are gorgeous! I look for inspiration all over and there is really no time frame unless I have a dinner or an event at my house, but even after a party, I am still looking for inspirational ideas. Lastnight I painted a little green metal (3) jar holder white, put water in the jars and cut fresh pine sprigs about 10 -12 inches long and voila!
A new, simple, beautiful little vignette was created for my shelf in the kitchen. A white platter is the back drop, all because of the inspiration I found on your blog! Thank You!!!
