House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

A Tree For The Little Children...

This is the part where I tell you what a good mother I am.
I give my kiddos each their own special tree to decorate in their very own rooms.
That's right...their own trees to decorate.
I will tell you that it is because I'm a giver, a creative encourager, a uniter, really.
My husband would tell you that it is because I don't want anyone, no matter how sweet they may be, messing with my tree mojo. (Get your own tree, already!)
This way, when ornaments like this show up, I can say- "Loooove that- put it on your tree, sweetheart."

Here is a peek at my little angels decorating their trees...(Note that there are no pictures of my boys "Basketball" themed tree)

Pride surged through my heart when I heard my girls deciding on color schemes for each of their trees. The "pink and green" themed tree did wind up with some doozies. And, a  "#1 teacher bear" found it's way onto the "all white" themed tree.
No sweat for me, though. I have my own big girl tree to decorate however I want.

  3. I totally smell what you're cookin', girl. We have three trees: the Family Tree with all the homemade "keepsakes", the Manly Man Tree with my husband's childhood football ornament collection and growing stash of bbq themed ornaments (really?), and MY tree, aka "The Pretty Tree." Anyone touches MY tree and they die a swift death.

Love the idea of giving the kids each their OWN though! No more fighting! No hogging the good spots. No repositioning wars. Friggin' brilliant!

  6. HA HA HA!!!! I am a tree snob too & my son has his own tree in his room and it is secretly for the purpose of saying, "Why don't you put it on your tree!" He picked blue and silver for his tree this year!

  7. Love this idea. My daughter uses a rosemary plant in a pot for her own personal Christmas tree. We just cut our first tree from a tree farm this year. Check out pic and the farm we visited here: http://familysponge.com/travel/our-natural-christmas-tree-farm-adventure/

  9. So much fun for the kids to decorate and have their own tree. My granddaughter lived with us for several years before leaving for gradschool this past August. She always had her own tree to decorate in here bedroom. She even loved wrapping lights around the headboard. Her room she could do what she wanted. Missed having her here this year to help me. She grew up too fast.
