House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

My Name Is Kerry And I'm A Color Chicken...

I profess my love for white, white and white.
It's calming!
It's crisp!
It's bleach worthy!
Truth is- I'm a big ole color chicken.
You might remember that my friends sent me the "YOU NEED COLOR" message loud and clear with my birthday gifts.
I am really going to jazz things up around here this spring. Really, I am. Really.

Here are some of my inspiration lookiloos:

What say you? Are you a color chicken or a color enthusiast?

  1. Big time bons fide 100% color CHICKEN here.

I have all shades of whites and ivories, some greens and lots of shades of browns - that is as much color as I can live with.

One of these days I will do some room blogs, but for now i am just trying to get that hang of blogging and photographing - two very new things to me.

Yes, color chicken and always will be.

I commend your courage and spirit!

I say start with pillows and wall art and work your way towards color. It MAY freak you out a bit at first, haha.

  3. Keep it fresh with white and accentuate with splashes of color.

  4. I love how each of these photos is still mostly white/neutral. I think some easily switched out items like pillows, candles, vases is def the way for you to go. I am "starting over" in this house--last house was full of saturated autumnal colors...this one is smaller, so more neutrals. My "go to " colors in this house are from McCoy pottery--aquas and greens.

  9. I'm afraid of white because we have too many animals and bleaching doesn't seem to work for me. Can't say we have a lot of colour either though,...more like neutrals. Love that yellow pop on the front door.

  10. NOW you're talking!! :) But I dare you to come up with an interior that has NO white......(no cream, no "oatmeal", no bisque).

  11. I'm a certifiable, 100% COLOR-aholic. There is not a white wall in my house. I can't handle white or even off white - it makes the room feel unfinished to me.
Not that I cover the walls with crazy, bright primary colors. I like soothing, calming colors. My kitchen walls (paint colors) are called "Milk Chocolate" and "Cafe Au Lait". Seriously, don't you want to come over for coffee now?
Don't be afraid of color! It's the easiest thing in the world to change! Now, furniture... that scares me. @-@

  12. How fun are you? Just came across your blog via Chef In Training!

So I am house and design obsessed too :)

Love, love, love color and I'm so not skkkurrrred to use it. Have two projects coming this spring/summer - kitchen and dining room. Dining will be yellow, greens and whites (and maybe some black too). I need something damask print in that room, but just not sure what yet.
