House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

Decorating For Spring!

Here is a lookiloo at:
HOW TO DECORATE FOR EASTER WITHOUT MAKING ME SCRATCH OUT MY CORNIAS!

When I think of Easter decor, I picture this:

Pardon me, but - are those condoms?

I have a pal (click here to see her house tour) that decorates with bunnies and her place looks fantastic, while maintaining her dignity...unlike my home's colorful array of plastic eggs and amazingly real looking pink "grass"!

What say you? Is there a place for eyesore decor or do you class it up?

  3. That wreath...the one made of the used shower poofs....
    WHY?!
I haven't put out any Easter decor yet, but I do have an egg holder that is ultra kitschy and moderately tacky...I'm sort of in love with it.

  4. I'm with you, Kerry. I'm a fan of more of a low to no key Easter decor. Just can't do the all those colors at once. Your friend's house is very tastefully done. Love it!

  8. Peeps in a cup works for me. Simple, colorful, tasty. (I don't really 'do' Easter decor. I save my energy for Halloween.)

  10. Yes, I cannot wait until Easter is over and people have something else to blog about. I will say that your classy friend did a bang up job - Personally, I decorate for Christmas and celebrate Easter by taking my Christmas decorations down....

  12. Hooboy. I try to class it up, but sometimes I just can't help but add a few eyesore things! Of course, I can't say that I've ever used a torn up shower pouf to do much of anything... other than toss in the trash!

I do adore the classy bunny decor!

  13. Funny post! I feel that way during every holiday. There's something to be said for all that tackiness though...Kids love it and it makes their mommas so proud when they can demonstrate in their own homes that they've been able to exercise some restraint. ;)

  14. Great post! When my kids were younger, I remember decorating the house for Easter in such a tacky manner...but that made my kids happy! They wanted to find every egg that we hid and then they loved finding the plastic eggs around the house that were filled with chocolate and peeps and jelly beans. And - of course we had to have large, overflowing baskets with all the goodies in them. And on the front door there would be a larger and colorful cardboard bunny rabbit. My girls would get decked out in pastel dresses, patent leather shoes and pretty straw hats with ribbons. How sweet they looked!

Today, I have a more designer attitude toward decorating for Easter. But - I still buy peeps and chocolate bunnies for my kids - and now for their kids. My youngest, in fact, is giving birth at this very moment (she started labor pains yesterday morning...so her Easter was being in and out of the hospital!). I should be getting a phone call shortly (she's in CA, while I am in NY) - she's having a girl...and so the Easter ritual will start anew. I already have a cute little bunny toy that I will give her when i go out there next week to help her with the baby.

Hope you had a happy Easter!

  16. I don't decorate for Easter at all.:( But I really like the bunnies you have shown. Much better than most of the Easter decor. Thanks for sharing with us at Link It Up Thursday.

Maybe you'll find kitsch- maybe cool, at the very least a smile or two!

    Love your humor!
