House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

How To Make Your Own URL On Blogger!

Yesterday, I started a vlog tutorial series for bloggers.
Because I am such a bloggy smarty party? Uh...nope.
I hate techy junk. HATE.IT.
Luckily, I have a friend that is a whizbangboom with this @#$%.
Angela Shelton is not only a walking smarty party, she is the most helpful and generous person on the planet. (Don't tell her I said that.)

Angela has been bugging the crap out of me encouraging me to change my blog address from housetalkn.blogspot.com to housetalkn.com - you can see why. It was like running a 5k just to type the dern address.
I get it. I understand.
BUT! I would rather spend my free time swooning over marble countertops.

Here is how our texts went today:
Me: To move to .com, do I have to leave blogspot?
AS: Nope. You bought housetalkn.com somewhere, right?
*crickets*
Me: Nopers.
AS: Oh, holy shit! Do it right now fast like.
*crickets*
*more crickets*
AS: I will make a video for you idiot my love.

Here you go. Thank you and You're Welcome.

Ten bucks later and I own my own fancy URL!

  6. It is a testament to my laziness that I can't even watch the easy vlog. Because that would lead to action, and I am too tired today. So I am marking this post unread on my reader [if I can remember how] and I will deal with this tomorrow.

    Buh-bye, blogspot. SUCKER.

    1. You can do this right on Blogger- super easy peasy. If I could do it between red wine and bon-bons, you can do it!

  7. Easy-peasy! Did switching your URL mess up your followers or links? It doesn't look like it from my end--you're still in my Blogger Reading List.
    Tell Angela thanks for me.

    1. I was worried about all of that, too. The only thing it changed was my address. The best part, is that you do it right in Blogger. They made it super easy! I should have shot video of me walking through the process. If I can do it, anyone can. I kept sayin' "Well, lookylooky there! I'm doing it, I'm doing it...I did it!"
Thank you, Patti. Let me know if you go for it.

  11. Oh dear...she made it look so easy!! You guys are both just too cute!! I'm a little nervous, cuz I tend to click something and then my blog sidebar changes...lol..or something crazy like that happens. My address does need to be shortened, for sure!! So I'm thinking out loud...I'd have to change my address on my FB page, and Twitter....I wonder about link parties I joined today? Am I missing anything? (I don't have business cards yet, but want to make some before Haven)

    1. Janis- if I can do it, you can do it! It doesn't alter any of your backlinks. All of my old blogspot entries just route to the new address. AND! AND! AND! Here is the tutorial on How To Change Your Facebook Address-

Keep me posted! YOU CAN DO IT!
