I shared my 9 year old daughter's "A Country Living Inspired Bedroom" makeover.
I shared my sappy "Goodbye, Peter Rabbit" when we painted over the nursery.
During a moment of mental instability, I shared that on move day, our son's room looked like this:

Unlike her big sister, Thing 4 could not care less about decorating! Her only two requests were 1. keep a book basket near the bed and 2. keep a basketball hoop on the closet door. Books and basketball...my kind of girl.
I must admit that I was so happy to maintain a little girl room for a bit longer...pink & green color scheme, vintage dress up clothes, and wicker furniture.
I have a feeling that this won't last long. This is the girl that asked me if I had ever heard of "Goth Style" and if it is a religion.
"Why, yes. Goth Style is a religion, honey. We are Lutheran so you won't be able to enjoy the Goth culture. Dagnabbit."

That is gorgeous. Nicely done Mom!
ReplyDeleteI love the basket of books by the bed. I need to adopt that for my youngest who would sleep with her entire book collection if allowed.
Thank you, Marian! We have a serious book addiction!
DeleteBeing able to switch rooms as a child was SO exciting--I vividly remember moving into my big sister's room when she went off to college. I felt like a princess in that big space. What a neat opportunity for your lucky kids. But poor old Mom not only has to keep the same old room, she still has to SHARE.
ReplyDeleteSup with that? My kiddos had planned and negotiated for months beforehand!
DeleteThanks, Jenny!
Hi Kerry! Just found your blog from Shabby Creek Cottage. I love your style and your sense of humor! I'm a new follower!

Hi, Brenda! How much do I love Shabby Creek Cottage?? Thank you for popping by and joining the cray cray!
DeleteI think that's p. 36 in Luther's small catechism. Love the room. Esp. the hoop.
ReplyDeleteGood to know I have backup "confirmation" on this...
DeletePeeing about the goth style being a religion. You are brilliant - hope it lasts awhile longer for you, lol. Love the pink and green. The furniture is lovely. Great room!!
ReplyDeleteWhatever it takes, baby. I am living in fear that my mother will spill the beans about my teenage style mishaps!
DeleteOh snap! I dread those days of my kids asking me for Goth stuff because dear goodness, that is just NOT something I want to see in my house!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the wicker furniture for sure. It all looks so cute!
My daughter is 7- how the heck does she hear this stuff?
DeleteThanks for poppin' by, Holly!
Turning out darn cute. And every time I see a kids room makeover the guilt sets in that my son's been waiting almost one full year for his to get done. I need a kick in the pants.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Well, we just painted over the nursery and our youngest is 7!
Delete^First of all, I will provide Bliss' much-needed kick. Second of all, you gotta love a girl who reads. Third, my son, being all "Goth" and whatnot, painted his room a very dark navy blue. He also got to re-paint it when we put the house on the market.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love you. Sure wish our crew could be yukking it up at BlogHer this week!
DeleteTotally scared of the goth or "gangsta" look my little girl is going to be into soon! I've already put up with Bieber posters....M's room looks fab!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going down without a fight!
Deletewait until she becomes a tween, that's when redecorating her romm because a challenge! All style goes out the window and they want a modge podge of decor!!!
ReplyDeleteWhich is worse- modge podge or hodge podge?
Deleteor hodge podge! My brain is still not quite awake!
ReplyDeleteHer room is soo sweet! Can I move in? ; )
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the comment from Recreate & Decorate. My stepdaughter (almost 14) wanted her room to look more 'grownup' last Winter. So for Christmas I got her a beautiful new bedding set and gorgeous accessories for her room. Well that lasted until late Spring when she asked if she could get rid of her bed frame and just have her mattress on the floor! Yep, no box spring. Just a mattress on the floor like a squatter!! Now she doesn't even use her new comforter because it's too big and ends up laying on the floor. Her newest request, if we can tie dye some sheets and make a duvet cover.
Oh well, at least I still have my 6 year old daughter's room to decorate cute. Although she definitely has some opinions on what she likes and doesn't like.
Found you through Serenity Now. Have a great weekend!!
~ Catie
Thank goodness for the baby of the family, huh?
DeleteThanks for popping by, Catie!
Ha! Dagnabbit...I was hoping she got to have black walls. Poor girl. This looks beautiful!! And the basketball hoop on the back door....perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteBlack walls would put me right over the edge!
DeleteThanks, Janel!
SO adorable! I just did my little girl's room, too. It's so fun to do girly...before they're old enough to have too much of an opinion! Great job!
ReplyDeleteCherish these years, before you know it, you'll be explaining GOTH!
DeleteI love the vintage feel, even mixed with the basketball hoop :). It's so pretty and girly, my kind of room!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I featured you today on Show Off Saturday!
http://www.mydecoupagedlife.com/2012/08/show-off-saturday-room-reveals.html
Thanks, Brittany! I can't wait to pop over and hang out at your place!
DeleteThe room turned out great - I love the hydrangeas! Green and pink has always been a favorite of mine for little girls' rooms.
ReplyDeleteOur hydrangeas have exploded this year! They are in every room of our house!
DeleteThanks, Sara!
Gotta grab the pink and green while you can. Thankfully, the closest I got to goth with my kids was the two year period that my daughter wore eyeliner virtually circling her eyes. She was/is so darn nice I never said one word about it. One day she just stopped doing it. I was glad.
ReplyDeleteAs my daughter says, "You so 'mart!"
DeleteKeeping my mouth shut is a challenge but I am trying...
Way to go, Kerry! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lori!
DeleteOh wow. What a sweet little girl's room. It's posts like this one that make me all jealous of those of you blessed with a girl...although boys are quite wonderful, they just aren't soft and pink :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing on Show & Tell at SNAP! Kerry.
Love your guts! xoxo, Tauni
Thanks, Tauni! I have 2 boys and 2 girls. There is only so much navy and plaid a mom can handle, huh?
DeleteThank you for hosting and for popping by my place!
Just found your blog and subscribed! Wondering, what color is on the walls of your daughter's room, which by the way is too cute!
ReplyDeleteWelcome! I wish I could tell you! I painted it several years ago when it belonged to my boys. I know it was Benjamin Moore, something in the candy apple color scheme.
DeleteThanks for popping by!
LOVE this makeover Kerry! The furniture is just fabulous!! Well, sounds like you have a little precocious kiddo on your hands. Good luck with that! (psst... I have one too!)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Precocious is the understatement of the year!
DeleteHave a great weekend!
