House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

Freshening Up An Entryway

If you are going to leave your keys with a friend while on vacation, you might pick a high energy, designer extraordinaire like my pal, Karen.
I got to tag along with Karen while she "freshened up" her friend/client's home before their return.
Say what? How does that conversation go?
"Hi. This is Karen. Do you mind if I spruce up your entryway before you come home and by the way, can my blogger house stalker pal take pictures?"
I was starting to feel guilty. Remember what happened when Karen left me the keys to her house while she frolicked on a beach? (Click here for all kinds of inappropriate)

Here is a lookiloo at how Karen freshened up her friend's entryway.

AFTER:

As usual, I was zero help to Karen. I spent most of my time swooning over the staircase and saying helpful things like, "Me likey!"

    1. Whenever Karen pops by, I casually walk her to a "problem area" just to see her get twitchy- works every time.

  3. You should have just casually tucked the house into your coat and walked away slowly.

  6. That is a really nice entry way now. I have always dreamed of an entry large enough to have a table like that. I would set champagne up there to greet guests at a party, and then set favors there to give away when they leave.... wouldn't that be nice...

  9. I want a friend like that! You know, with keys to even more stranger's homes. Is it wrong that I still go to open houses even though we are so not in the market (happy where we are)? Anyway, it feels like forever since I've been here, you know, to your actual site. I've been so busy with all that pesky mommy-ing this summer that I've gotten addicted to Google Reader and not commenting, I know, bad blog friend. Once school starts I'll be back on track, promise:)
