House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

A "Couch Hater" Intervention!

Just a few short months ago, an unnamed friend asserted that couches are stupid. I believe her exact words were: "Couches are stupid. No one wants to sit on a couch with other people." This friend stated that her house would be full of cozy chairs, giving each guest their own, individual space. (Code for "Get out of my personal space!")

And, then...she went shopping ...
And...shopping...

And...shopping!

Six months and five couches later, my friend is still making claims of being a couch hater.
She told me this, straight faced, while a leather couch was being delivered to her husband's man cave.

  2. I can't stop laughing at "couches are stupid." They are - let's face it - but we all have 'em.

  3. This just made me think of all the awkward times I sat next to strangers or strange people on a tight couch at parties- lol!

    1. OH, NO! It is an awkward moment- do you just sit side by side or do you face each other? What if you are too close and your legs touch? Couches are stupid.
      Thanks, Nancy!

  4. That's hilarious. I've never known a "couch hater", but I do have lots of people in my life that are kinda "people-phobic"!

    Warmly,

    1. I have no personal space and my husband has a 10 foot circle of personal space. We clearly have different opinions on "COUCHES ARE STUPID!"
      Thanks for popping by, Michelle!

  5. Sure, if you have a "formal room," couches may only be a designer necessity. However, when it is comfort for a family, nothing beats snuggling on a sofa...or teaching kids to share the dang space in the middle and just stop whining about it.

  9. I couch shop using the "Can two or more people lie side-by-side" test. Being single, this means enlisting the Macy's salesperson to be my fictitious S.O. They are quite accommodating folks, those people ... LURVE my couch ... LURVELURVE such personal service! ~ Terrie from Atlanta, Georgia
