House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

House For Sale!

Won't You Be My Neighbor?
It's getting personal, now. A house on MY STREET is for sale.
I am on a personal mission to sell this house.
My children are on a personal mission to sell this house.
My neighbors are on a personal mission to sell this house.
We love our neighborhood and we especially love our neighbors.
If you or someone you know is looking for a well loved, well cared for, family home in old town Champaign, look no further. (And, ahem...if you want great neighbors!)

This street has the best lemonade stand in town.
This street is hoppin' on Halloween.
This street is near Clark Park.
This street knows how to have a pool party.
Now, for the house tour!
Archways in the entryway.

Double pantries for extra storage.
The kitchen is swoon worthy. It is light and bright with tons of storage. The kitchen boasts a Viking stove, custom cabinetry, granite countertops, a prep sink, two dishwashers and a large eat-in space!

We all know that the kitchen is the hub of the house. There is even a built in workspace!

Gleaming hardwood floors throughout.
When the homeowners planned the addition, they added a second staircase leading to the kitchen.
The kitchen "island" has cupboards on both sides!
The kitchen flows into the family room which has custom built (by Willard Brewer) built-ins.

For those of us that live in older homes, we know that a master suite is hard to come by. This home has a huge master bedroom with his & hers closets, a private office and a full bath.
The guest bedroom also has a private bath. The homeowners included a vintage medicine cabinet when they renovated the bathroom.
This custom built mudroom promises to contain all of the backpacks, boots, and coats!
Outdoors, the garden has been professionally landscaped and maintained. The wraparound patio provides a beautiful setting for family dinners or neighborhood barbecues!

Need more convincing? Here are some more details:
-4 bedrooms
-3.5 bathrooms
-2 staircases
-Office
-Formal living room
-Formal dining room
-Garden shed
-Garden courtyard
-Heated sunroom
-Finished basement
-3 fireplaces
-Almost 4,000 square feet
-$449,000 NEW PRICE! $399,000!

What say you? Won't you be my neighbor?

  3. Great house, wish I could move out of Mo. but we must stay here if we want cheaper insurance. Hubs is retired state employee, with restrictions on health ins. It's a bit too much house for us, but I would die for that kitchen and yard alone!!!

  13. I can't imagine having that much space. My house would fit inside 3 times. I grew up with 6 siblings in a house half that size. It's beautiful, though. I would love that kitchen and the built ins!

  15. Wow! Absolutely beautiful house, but I don't think it is in South Florida! How I would love to have a kitchen like that and the yard - well, it looks fantastic. I do miss the changing of the seasons, and even a little snow - three fireplace mantels to decorate - oh man, I'd be in heaven!
    Thanks for the tour!

  23. The house is beyond awesome. Now just the details in getting it shipped up to Canada... But seriously where I live here 400 000 could maybe buy a 3 bed room townhouse.

  26. I have been stalking this house since it came on the market! We live in SE Urbana and have been looking for months at homes in this neighborhood. The new price is very exciting! I just need it to come down a little....bit....more.... before I let myself schedule a showing. For now, the virtual tour in a constant loop on my laptop will have to do.
