House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

The House Of Glass...A Tour

Ten minutes outside of the city limits, I arrived at the home of Mary Kalantzis and Bill Cope. Mary, the dean of the University of Illinois College of Education and Bill, the president of Common Ground Publishing and a UI education professor, have created a haven that The News-Gazette referred to as "The Glass House On The Prairie."
Please pop over and read that feature. You will read all about this home's indoor pool, geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels, limestone floors, original artwork, unique light fixtures, rooftop garden and the award winning "meditation hut."
Now, for the eye candy.

If you want to further swoon, click here to tour their guest loft.

  1. Wow. interesting architecture. I was surprised to see the picture of the very traditional oak china cabinet in such a contemporary style of house. Looks like a retreat. ;)

  3. I love seeing homes of people who do not follow the crowd and/or have seen too much HGTV! A nice treat, thank you.
