My husband made me laugh this morning.
We spent our weekend hovering over our children, hugging them tighter, sitting with them longer and saying "yes" to their every request.
I took so many trips to restroom to hide my tears that I had to tell my children that I had caught the dreaded stomach virus.
This morning, we sent them back to school.
Despite the knot in my stomach, I waved big waves and yelled big love at them as my husband walked them down our street...further and further from the safety of our home.
When my husband returned, he brought me a cup of coffee and told me a story. He spun and embellished the most exaggerated tale of himself looking like a fool. (He knows this to be my favorite kind of tale!)
And, I laughed. I mean really laughed - a big ole belly laugh that ended with a snort and tears.
Laughter is the medicine to my soul. I know this and my husband knows this.
So...
Today, I sent my children back to school.
Today, I started the laundry and emptied the dishwasher.
Today, I will write something funny. It's what I do. It's how I will cope.
Today, my husband made me laugh. It was a gift.
Today, I hope something here makes you laugh.

I don't have children, but can only imagine your trepidation! Be strong!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't watched the news since my kids got home from school on Friday. I just watched an hour and I'm a mess, again. We cannot look away this time.
DeleteI so agree that we can not look away ANY MORE!!!! We need to demand from Congress that they DO something about the guns in this nation. NO citizen needs assault weapons, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Pinky.
