House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

Favorite Oscar Moments

Most years, I watch the Musical Theatre Oscars in a fog of cluelessness. While I love movies, most of the movies I see are G rated and include animated, talking animals.
Not this year, dagnabbit.
With the hope of catching a glimpse of some topless Ben Affleck or Bradley Cooper, I watched Argo and Silver Linings Playbook.
I know why Argo won and Silver Linings Playbook didn't. Ben showed a little skin and Bradley went all shy. (Read all about that HERE!)
Here are my top 5 moments from Oscars 2013:
Paige Kellerman whipped up this hilarious meme.
1. No one gives the stink-eye like Tommy Lee Jones.
2. Kristen Stewart limped onto the stage with sex hair and "I give zero f**k" attitude.
3. Poor Renee Zellweger lost her eyes. Bless her heart.
4. It's all fun and games until Anne Hathaway pokes an eye out with her...

5. Ben Affleck, "Best Non Grudge Holder" of the year.
When the planning committee for Oscars 2014 calls me, I will give them 2 tips.
1. Lose the Jaws "wrap it up" music.
2. Please- for the love of all things holy, let Amy and Tina host.
It's your turn- what was your favorite Oscar moment?

  1. LOL! Awesome post.. I also didn't watch the OSCARS.. most times I have no idea what any of the movies are because like you I usually watch G rated with animated characters or old classic black and white movies.. I also don't think there are many 'stars' left in Hollywood anymore anyway.. but LOVED this post!

  2. funny recap. I only watch the red carpet event, sometimes more entertaining since I don't see 99% of the movies that are nominated. Please don't think I have a shallow life or anything!! :) Laura @Top This Top That

    1. This was the first year that I had actually seen any of the movies! Shallow life walkin'!
      Thanks, Laura!

  3. I liked that Jennifer Aniston was there and Brad and Angie were not. I thought it was rude that Zellweger went out in public without her eye make up.
I love the new "it" couple of Jennifer and Ben.
And I oh so agree that Kristen Stewart looked like she had an attitude! She looked like she had the blood sucked out of her.

I would like to gag over Ben and Jen but they are too stinkin' cute!
      Thanks, Sue.

What is this thing you speak of "sleep?"

  5. One of these years I will be somebody and actually tweet during an awards show. I love Tommy Lee Jones. He is the epitome of "curmudgeon," which I just happen to love.

  6. This is going to sound mean, but who cares? What is the deal with Jennifer Aniston's hair? It always looks the same. Just once for an awards show I would like to see it up or curled or something. It drives me crazy (says the lady who never does anything to her hair). I'm going to sound like an old lady, She has such a pretty face, let's see it once in a while.

Also, Tina and Amy should totally host next year and I could be the weird third like that guy who got to be producing partners with Ben and George. Remember him? He's always an IT guy or a terrorist in a bunch of movies from the 90s. I could be that guy to Tina and Amy.

    1. AGREED! She has gorgeous hair and we all know it. Branch out for goodness sake! Jeesh, I sound like my mother. "Just a little lipstick goes a long way, Dear."
      Thanks, Punchy One!

    2. You would be awesome with Tina and Amy! If George and Ben let IT man in, there is certainly room for you!

    3. Although I must say, ladies, that if I had Jennifer Aniston's hair, I'd be wearing be down all the time. And flipping it over my shoulders, tossing it in the wind, and staring at myself in every window, mirror, or reflective surface. I have a mini-crush on her hair.

    4. If I had her body, I would walk around naked, holding a sign that read, "CHECK OUT MY AWESOME BODY!"

  7. Best Oscar list I've seen today!

  8. Hi Kerry,
Leo said to tell you that after watching the Broadway musical that was supposed to be the Oscars, he sashayed off to bed a little light in his slippers!!!

I vote for Tina and Amy, too. And I loved Jack Nicholson-he may be getting old but he still has that devilish look in his eye!

    1. HA! I love musicals, but come on, already! Maybe that's why Renee Zellweger couldn't open her eyes- she'd had enough!
      Thanks, Jane!

  9. I loved it when my hero Hugh Jackman tried to save Jennifer Lawrence {after she fell & couldn't get up!} Now I have an even bigger crush on him. Ha ha.

    Warmly, Michelle

  10. I'm going to second your suggestions for 2014, but I'd like to add a couple of things. I liked the suggestion on #spikedpunch last night to add Betty White with Tina and Amy. Maybe have Daniel D.L. write a few acceptance speeches for lackluster winners. And could we just have all the awards and acceptance speeches (in their entirety) and then if there's time left over at the end of the show,do the musical numbers? Or play the JAWS music if the presenter dialogue isn't funny? Whaddya think?

    1. Betty White would totally rock the Oscars and I love the Jaws music for the presenters! You should be in charge, yo'!

  12. Totally agree with your post. My favorite moments:
    1. Bradley Cooper.
    2. The whole "best picture" scene - Jack, Michelle, and the speeches (and "Argo" is the only Oscar nominee I've seen so far!)
    3. Hugh Jackman
    4. Seeing a healthy Robin Roberts (and her gorgeous blue dress).
    5. Did I mention Bradley Cooper?

  13. Yea - kinda lame this year. I had such high hopes for Seth, too! I chalk it up to really BAD writers! You'd think the Oscars would have the cream of the crop when it comes to writers in Hollywood! Thank God, Daniel Day Lewis saved the say with his acceptance speech! Who knew he was so funny?!

  14. My son is a huge Seth fan and thinks he should host all award shows from now on. I liked him too because of the "We Saw Your Boobs" song (the only musical number of the Oscars I enjoyed), but I'd rather see Amy and Tina host next year. I also loved the acceptance speeches by Daniel Day Lewis, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lawrence (bravo to her for tripping and then joking about it).

  15. I watched the Oscars at a "fancy" party this year, but as a result I missed a lot of it! Too many damn people chattering! I've become such a curmudgeon that next year I will refuse any and all invitations so I can sit home and watch in my flannel jammies. But my fave was Jennifer Lawrence. How fabulous is she?

  16. If you start an Amy and Tina petition, I'm the next to sign it! And, dear LORD! The Tommy Lee Jones stink eye...it could make Chuck Norris cry!!!

  17. Stopping by from the Honest Mom link-up. I gave the Academy some tips as well! My fave moment, by far, was when my Ben talked about marriage. Loved how real he was.
