House TalkN is a fun lookiloo at houses, houses, houses. It will answer pressing questions like, "When folks build a McMansion on a small lot, what are they compensating for?" or "Was the real estate agent drunk when they staged this house?" or "Why don't the Smiths' ever leave their drapes open when I am on a harmless walk-by?"

A House Tour And New Memory Making

Remember when this house was for sale and I stalked admired it shamelessly?
BEFORE
I am so happy to report that this wonderful family home has a new family! Dr. Maria Horvat and her family have renovated this house and made it their own. I suspect that if the whole doctor thing doesn't work out, Maria has a career waiting as a designer!

The living room is still being renovated, but I nabbed a few sneak peeks!

The living room leads through a sitting area, into the family room.

There are so many cozy spots in this home. Maybe, I could be the official house stalker sitter?
Brace yourself. I almost blew a gasket when I saw the renovated kitchen. Dr. Horvat may or may not have performed CPR on me.

From the gorgeous counters to the open layout to the stainless steel appliances- the kitchen is totally swoon worthy!

I love a house with a circular flow for parties families to romp through. The kitchen leads back to the front of the house- the dining room!
As you can see, light pours into this south facing home. Every room is so bright and cheery!
Speaking of lighting, let's talk light fixtures. Holy gorgeous. Many of the original fixtures remain but several new lighting updates fit perfectly.

The upstairs is open and flows seamlessly through four bedrooms.

Buddy the dog was a very gracious host!

See? There are plenty of cozy spaces for me to visit!
I know that the previous longterm owners have so many memories of a driveway full of boys playing basketball. It does the heart good to see such a great new family, carrying on a neighborhood tradition.
Thank you to Dr. Horvat for the tour but especially, for breathing life back into this gem.

  10. This was my home for 30+ years. The original version brought many, many countless happy memories, and not just boys playing basketball :). It is so fun seeing the changes and I know the new version will be filled with just as many happy memories, as the foundation and walls are filled with love! I hope to see it first hand on my next visit to Champaign.
